Artist's Description

Fairy Slipper or Calypso Orchid found at Dan Creek, Alaska. They bloom from mid-May to mid-June and are present in moist mossy woods in southcentral, and Interior Alaska. The flower and stem are usually 4 to 6 inches tall and the leaf which looks pleated dies after the plant blooms, a new leaf appears August.
